About Epiphany

Epiphany, known in Poland as Święto Trzech Króli, the Feast of the Three Kings, is celebrated on 6 January and commemorates the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus. It is a Catholic holy day and a public holiday in Poland.

Traditions

Catholics take chalk and incense to church to be blessed. The chalk is used to write the letters K+M+B, for the traditional names of the three kings or the Latin blessing Christus mansionem benedicat, together with the year, above the front door. Colourful Three Kings processions are held in many towns and cities.
